How to Configure and Use Note of the Day Feature

The process of setup and configuration of Note of the Day functionality requires both Administrator level privileges within Hudson Applications as well as a high degree of comfort with:
Building custom grids in HWeb Dispatcher
Configuration of HotKeys and FastInfo menu items
A overview of the steps required are listed below.
1) Tools > Configuration > Application Configuration > General Configuration > Advanced Features > Notes Tab
Edit one of the available Note types and set:
Caption = Daily Note (or similar)
AltCaption= NoD (or similar)
Enabled = Yes (checked)
Default Save Format (txt) = Enabled (checked)
(Type 2 Required = Enabled (checked)) Optional
2) Tools > Configuration > Application Configuration > General Configuration > Codes Table
From the drop list of Groups, locate your newly created Note Type:
ex: Note Daily Note (#) Subtypes
Press tab key
Create New Daily Note Subtype
Press F1 Key OR
File > Add New Code OR
Click icon resembling blank sheet of paper
Enter a single letter or number corresponding to the first SubType of daily note:
ex: R
Enter a Description for the first SubType of daily note:
ex: Reservations Dept Notes
Click "Update" button
Click "Save changes to DB" button
Repeat the steps above for additional Note types, if desired
(ex: D / Dispatch Dept Notes, A / Accounting Notes, etc.)
3) Create "Dispatcher Command Buttons," "Dispatcher Action Menu Items" OR both.
3a) Dispatcher Command Buttons
Tools > Configuration > Application Configuration > General Configuration > HotKey Fast Info menu
F1 -OR-
File > Add new HotKey / Fast Info -OR-
Click icon resembling blank sheet of paper
Set the following:
System Profile = <All profiles>
Record type = Dispatcher command button
Group Name = Daily Note buttons
Caption = Edit
Priority = 0
Set Colors (optional - if desired)
Function = Note - Edit
Click the "Update" button
Press F1 to start another:
System Profile = <All profiles>
Record type = Dispatcher command button
Group Name = DailyNoteButtons
Caption = Add
Priority = 1
Set Colors (optional - if desired)
Function = Note - Add New
Function parameters = Note type=# (replace the # symbol with the number of the note type selected in Step 1 above)
Click the "Update button"
Click the "Save changes to DB button"
3b) Dispatcher Action menu item
Tools > Configuration > Application Configuration > General Configuration > HotKey Fast Info menu
F1 -OR-
File > Add new HotKey / Fast Info -OR-
Click icon resembling blank sheet of paper
Set the following:
System Profile = <All profiles>
Record type = Dispatcher action menu
Group Name = Daily Note Menu
Caption = Add Note
Priority = 1
Function = Note - Add New
Function parameters = Note type=# (replace the # symbol with the number of the note type selected in Step 1 above)
Click the "Update button"
Click the "Save changes to DB button"
4) Create an rtf document and save in the Templates > Support folder as: NotesGDF.rtf
Content of the rtf should be:
%SUBJECT% for > %NOTEDATE% %NOTETXT%
5) Building the Note Grid
Open HWeb Dispatcher
File > New > Notes View
Right click any column header and Select Grid Layout
Press CTRL + A to highlight all fields
Select Hide Selection
Locate the following field names and format as indicated>
NotesTxt: Override Optimization (checked)
NoteTOD: Show (checked) / Heading= Date / Data Alignment= Center Center / Data Format = MM/DD / Grid Sort=Ascending / Override Optimization (checked)
Status: Apply filter to column: Status=A(Active)
Status2: Apply filter to column: Status2=O(Open)
NoteType: Apply filter to column: NoteType=DailyNote
Save grid file to Templates > Support > NoteDailyRTF.gdf
Right click any column header and select: Grid Properties
General Tab:
Change Caption: "Daily Notes (double click date to edit)"
Refresh rate=0
Query Optimiztion=Automatic
Auto resize columns= checked
Enable Auto search= checked
Close form on Esc key= checked
Templates Tab:
DetailTemplate: NoteRTF
Custom Menus Tab:
Command button / Normal: DailyNoteButtons
Advanced Tab:
Detail Template update type: Note
Split: 0.90 (0.80 if using Command buttons)
Split Type: Horizontal
Detail Launch Mode: Launch Internal Dialog
Advanced II Tab:

Broadcast Tab:
Receive Link: AA (or other)
Field Name: ID
Primary Send
Broadcast Mode: Detail Only
Send Link: AA
Field name: id
Quick Filter Tab:
