Importing Drivers and Vehicle List

If a customer has a large list of drivers and vehicles they wish to put into their database, it can be easier to import the list as a document instead of entering each driver and vehicle seperately using the Hweb configuration. The steps that follow describe how this is done.

Send the attached files to the client.  The client should fill in the appropraite information under each field header for each driver/vehicle.  The client should not change the order and/or naming of any of the fields.  Once the file is edited, saved, and sent back to the Hudson technician, there is acertain amount of editing that must be done.

Edit Excel Document

1.  Remove the first two header rows.

2.  Add a driver/vehicle ID for each driver/vehicle.  Firstnumber should start after the last number of the current list.

3. Enter driver/vehicle status to 2.  This will set the driver/vehicle status to available.

4. Save as a csv file.  Click Save as and put the file name in quotes with the extention of csv.  (ie. "driverlist.csv".

Import CSV File to DB

1. Open Enterprise Manager and browse to the DB you are editing.

2. Right click the DB, choose All Tasks, and click Import File.

3. File type is text.  Browse to the file being imported and click NEXT.

4. Check off Delimited and 1st row has column names and click NEXT.

5. Check of coma and click NEXT.

6. Change the destination table by browsing to the appropriate table you are editing (driver/vehicle) and Click NEXT.

7. Click FINISH.
