Remove Server 2003 Terminal Service Background (esp. on Dells)
On Windows 2003 Servers especially Dell servers a large background image loads and slows the terminal service login process. For Dell’s it is a Dell Server logo which is 2 MB in size. To remove this item from the log in process do the following:
- Use Paint to make a gray.bmp with size 10 x 10, fill with gray (or download attached gray.bmp)
- Save in "c:\windows\system32\".
- Open regedit and locate HKEY USERS/ .DEFAULT/ Control Panel/ Desktop
- Change the Wallpaper key to "c:\windows\system32\gray.bmp"
- Set TileWallPaper to 1
- Close regedit, log off server, reconnect.
