Setting up a Terminal Services HWeb Account
Overview
For an additional monthly fee, Hudson clients have the option to use the HWeb Terminal Server instead of obtaining their own server(s) and maintaining their own networks. This server will contain the latest Hudson software, as well as allow Tech Support to assist users using Remote Control.
Directories
First create a directory for the client under the HUDSON main directory, use the client’s name or an abbreviated version for the directory name. Per client directory the following sub-directories should be created: CSVs, HWeb, Logs, Shortcuts. (Using Windows Exploer - Locate the driver letter when the HUDSON main directory is located. Use File New New Folder to create the folders above)
Users
After the directories are created. Users and Groups must be created. First create your group for the client, then the users.
· To create groups, Right click on My Computer from the Windows Desktop then select Manage. Expand Local Users and Groups. Select Groups. Right mouse and select New Group. Enter a Group Name and a description. The description may be the entire name of the company. When finished, select Close.
· To create users, , Right click on My Computer from the Windows Desktop then select Manage. Expand Local Users and Groups. Select Users. Right mouse and select New User. Enter a User Name and a description. The description may be the entire name of the company. The user name is CasE SensiTIve. This is exactly how the name will be entered by the client. All users should have SECURE passwords. When creating the passwords, check the boxes below so that sers CAN NOT change the password and password NEVER expires. ( Use this link to create secure passwords: http://www.winguides.com/security/password.php ) After creating the password, select Close. Find the newly created user from the Users List. Right mouse on the new user and select properties. Review each of the tabs:
- General
- User cannot change password
- Password never expires
- Member Of
- Click ADD – make sure they are a member of the new Group, Users, and Remote Desktop Users
- Click ADD – make sure they are a member of the new Group, Users, and Remote Desktop Users
- Sessions
- End Disconnected Session 1 minute
- Active Session Limit – Never
- Idle Session Limit – Never
- When session limit is reached or connection is broken: Disconnect from Session.
- Remote Control – Enable Remote Control
Link users with Group. Right click the new group and select Properties. Click ADD at the bottom of the screen. When the Select User window is displayed, type the new user name created in the step above. Repeat for all users of this group.
Sharing and Security
Open Windows Explorer and browse to the new client folder in the Hudson directory. Right click on the client folder and select Sharing and Security. On the Security tab, add the Group to this directory. Set the security to full access for all check boxes on the directory created for the client,
Database Creation
All primary databases for clients on the Terminal Services will be in SQL. Create a normal SQL database (ensure all primary keys and auto numberings are set) with the same name as your CLIENT Directory.
- Under the USERS section of the new DB, select New Database User, assign your new GROUP.
- Open the Security Folder and the Logins subfolder. Click Action New Login. Browse to the new Group. Under the Database Access tab, select your client’s DB, under permit in Database Role, select Public, dbowner, db_datareader, db_datawriter
- Copy Software Shortcuts to Clients new Login Desktop
DB Backup
Set the SQL server to backup the Database each night into HudsonBackups
Software setup
Build shortcuts save in Shortcuts folder, set INI to point to Client Directory and SQL DB
HWebSafetyNet
By saving your SQL backup to Hudsonbackups, SafetyNet should automatically send the backup to the HWebSafetyNet server. The Client DirectoryHWeb, CSVs and Shortcuts MUST be added to the HWebSafetyNet Plan.
Obtain New License for Client – if a new client.
