UK Postcodes and Postcode Tokens
Postcodes in the UK (also known as postal codes, zip codes, etc.) are helpful in the reservation and address lookup process in that they can represent a very specific or unique address, when used alone. Whereas a standard five digit Zip Code in the USA typically represents a Town, village or portion of a city, in the UK, a Postcode can represent a single dwelling / residence, or place of business.
The Postcodes in the UK are alphanumeric and comprised of 2 parts, which are separated by a space.
The first part is from 2-4 characters and is referred to as the Outward Code
The second part is 3 characters long and is referred to as the Inward Code.

For Hudson clients, the Outward Code may be used in the lookup of addresses in a fare file, or as zones when calculating fares. The following information is intended to show how these Outward Code portions may be used and also referenced in document templates through the use of special Tokens.
Postcode Area —first 2 alpha characters from a postcode
Postcode district (full) —everything to the left of the space in the postcode
Postcode district (short)—everything to the left of the space in the postcode, if the right most character is alpha then remove it
