iPad (iOS)

  • Install VMDT Provisioning Profile.
  • Install the latest version of the application.
  • Once installation is complete, open the VMDT application from your device desktop.
  • Do a two finger swipe from left to right to display the Admin section.
  • Copy the device ID.  This is a long string of numbers and letters.
  • Android

  • From the browser on the device, go to http://hudsonltd.com/device/software/android/
  • Install the latest version of the application.  You may have to download the update first, then go to your downloads folder on your Android device and open the file to run the download.
  • Once installation is complete, open the VMDT application from your device desktop.
  • Click the about button (usually a button at the top of the device with three lines) to view About mVMDT.
  • Copy the device ID.  This is a long string of numbers and letters.
  • STEP 2: Adding the device to the Device Configuration

These are the steps required to add the device to your device configuration page of your VMDT site ResUtility page.  These steps are required for the device to gain access to the VMDT site.  You will need to know the URL of the resutil page of your VMDT site and you will need access to this site, setup from the Web tab of your local User Access configuration.

    iPad (iOS) and Android

  • Log into your VMDT site res utility page.  You may need a Hudson technician to help you with the site URL.  Once you have this information bookmark it in your web browser for future use.  The standard for this URL is customernameID@hudsonltd.com/resutil.
  • Select the External Tab.
  • Select Device configuration.
  • You will be promoted to log into the Device Editor.  This is it to ensure that your user has permission to manage the device configuration for your account.
  • Select New Device to create a new device.
  • Enter the device ID you copied in Step 1 into the Device ID field.
  • Enter the desired name into the Name field.  The name will help you identify which device you are looking at.  If you are using GPS from the VMDT device, this name will appear in a GPS device grid in your dispatcher.
  • Leave the Terminal ID and Reservation Seed fields blank.
  • If you are NOT using the device to track GPS coordinates, select None in the field GPS Sync Mode.  If you are using the device to track GPS coordinates, select Local in the field GPS Sync Mode.
  • Select VMDT for the Device Type.
  • Enter %VMDTCONFIG% into the Configuration box.
  • Check off the following boxes: Enabled and Update Config.
  • *Update Software is used to force a device to update to a more recent version.  That version is managed inside the %VMDTCONFIG% token.

  • Click Create New Device and the device will be enabled.
  • STEP 3: Creating the Driver Login ID and Password

This step is required to give the driver access to any VMDT application from a device.  It ensures that the driver has access to the VMDT application and also is used to define who the driver is, so that they see their Reservations and/or Trips.

    iPad (iOS) and Android

  • From the HWeb Dispatcher Application, select Application Configuration.
  • Select Drivers tab then select Drivers button.
  • Select the driver you will be creating a login for.

  • Select Tools, then select Add Driver Login.
  • If you wish to create logins for all Drivers, check the Select All Rows box.
  • Select OK button.
  • STEP 4: Creating the VMDT Pager (Communication Device)

  • Test your Page Reservation, Quick Page, and Canned Page hotkeys from your dispatcher.
  • Test your driver responses and Status updated from the VMDT application on the device.
  • STEP 6: Syncing the VMDT Device as a GPS Tracking Device

If you will be tracking your vehicles using GPS, you will need to sync the devices to ensure that each coordinate is linked to the correct vehicle.

  • From your GPS desktop dispatcher, open the GPS Config grid.
  • Locate the device which you created in the web-based Device Editor.
  • Select the device and click the Assign button.
  • A list of communication devices you created will appear.  Choose the device (should be the same name) and click OK.
  • Now when you assign a driver to a vehicle using the Vehicle In/Out tool, the GPS device will be linked to that driver and vehicle and display on your map.
