How do I configure my email/smtp with authentication?

To setup SMTP with Authentication, you’ll need to do the following:
 

  1. Open HWebAgent, select TOOLS /CONFIGURATION /ADVANCED FEAUTURES.
  2. Select the Email-Fax tab.
  3. Change the SMTP server on the left side to whatever your email handler requires. As an example, Earthlink requires: smtpauth.hosting.earthlink.net

Nothing is needed on the right side, this has been used in the past for testing purposes.
 
Then within the same ADVANCED FEAUTURES setup, look for the tab labeled System Profiles.  There you will see an email string like this:
 
SMTP|%SMTPSRVR%|25|%REPLYTO%|%REPLYTO%|%MSGREF%
 
Add a "pipe" (" | " which on most US keyboards is the symbol that shares the key with the " \ " backslash symbol)  and then your username and password to the this string separating them with a colon :   Your finished string should look like this:
 
SMTP|%SMTPSRVR%|25|%REPLYTO%|%REPLYTO%|%MSGREF%|USERNAME:PASSWORD
 
Press APPLY, OK, F11 and then try to send an email.  If the email doesn’t go through Open My Computer, type %TEMP% in the address box.  Then open HWEB /HWEBAGENT /PAGER /yymm (where yymm is replaced with current year and month) and you’ll find a log for today.  You should be able to see here why the message did not go through.  If additional assistance is needed, please contact Tech Support.
