View VMDT - Application Installation Instruction

Installing the VMDT Application on Mobile Devices

VMDT stands for Virtual Mobile Data Terminal. It is an application that can be downloaded and installed on a host of client supplied mobile device hardware. Here are the steps required to install the vMDT app on an iPad or Android device.  For a current list of Hudson Certified devices that will run the VMDT application: Mobile Device Certification

 

iPad/iPhone (iOS)

  • From the browser on the iPad, go to http://hudsonltd.com/device/software/ios/
  • Select the the latest version of the application to install.  The latest version is typically shown at the bottom of the list.  Currently, the latest version is 5.4.5.
    • If you are running iOS 9 or later, you will need to Trust the vMDT application.  Follow the steps in this article and then continue below.
  • Once installation is complete, open the VMDT application from your device desktop.  You will see an error.  Proceed to the next step.
  • Do a two finger swipe from left to right to display the Admin section.  If you installed version 5.4 or later, you can touch the Admin button in the upper right corner.
  • Copy the device ID exactly as it appears (Include case of letters and any dashes).  This is a long string of numbers and letters.
  • Android

  • From the browser on the device, go to http://hudsonltd.com/device/software/android/
  • Install the latest version of the application.  The latest version is typically shown at the top of the list.  Currently, the latest version is 5.5.0.  You may have to download the update first, then go to your downloads folder on your Android device and open the file to run the download.  You may also have to update your device settings to allow the installation of non-market apps.
  • Once installation is complete, open the VMDT application from your device desktop.  You will see an error.  Proceed to the next step.
  • Click the about button (usually a button at the top of the device with three lines) to view About mVMDT.
  • Copy the device ID exactly as it appears (Include case of letters and any dashes).  This is a long string of numbers and letters.
  • Device Configuration

    The next step is to add your device to the device editor.  This step is required for your device to connect to your VMDT site.  It allows us to validate the device and connect it to the correct VMDT site.  There is an article with instructions, but if you need help completing this step, contact your Hudson primary technician with your device ID and they will complete it for you.
