Network Engineer
The Hudson Group is seeking a network engineer who would be responsible for improving, maintaining and supporting the computer communication networks within our organization. The network engineer will be a crucial member of our organization’s IT support team, as well as working externally as an IT networking consultant for our clients.
By ensuring the smooth operation of our data and communication networks, the network engineer we seek will provide maximum performance and availability for our users, such as staff, clients, customers and suppliers.
Typical work activities and desired skills usually include:
- Administration of computer networking, including local area networks (LANs)
- Installing, configuring, supporting and maintaining new server hardware and software infrastructure;
- Management of all system back-up and restoring and controlling protocols;
- Perform troubleshooting analysis of servers, workstations and associated systems and document network problems and resolution for future reference;
- Managing email, anti-spam and virus protection;
- Setting up user accounts, permissions and passwords;
- Monitoring network usage;
- Ensuring the most cost-effective and efficient use of servers;
- Suggesting and providing IT solutions to business and management problems;
- Ensuring that all IT equipment complies with industry standards;
- Analyzing and resolving faults, from major system crash to forgotten passwords;
- Undertaking routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining and monitoring network security, particularly if the network connects to the internet;
- Providing training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence;
- Supervising other staff, such as help-desk technicians;
- Working closely and collaborating with other departments/organizations & IT staff;
- Planning and implementing future IT developments, network and computing infrastructural requirements, and undertaking project work;
- Managing the website and keeping internal networks running;
- Monitoring the use of the web by employees;
- Responsibility for other IT equipment, such as printers and scanners;
- Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience is a must in junior network engineer job description.
