Drivers use HWeb MobilePlus on iPad to manage their work.

The Hudson Group presents HWeb MobilePlus, the industry’s first application for the iPad. HWeb MobilePlus allows transportation providers to send interactive reservation and communication items to drivers in the field holding an iPad. The Hudson iPad application offers,  2-way messaging, flight tracking, mapping and navigation, and client notification options.

HWeb MobilePlus is available today as part of a suite of reservation services and peripherals, and has been specifically designed for use on the recently released iPad, the iPhone, and other tablet style and mobile computing platforms.

“As mobile computing continues to mature, more opportunities exist to migrate vital business information and workflow to drivers in the field” said The Hudson Group president and CEO Mark Ustik. “Tablet style computers like the iPad by Apple now allow drivers to interact directly with the back-end reservation database. They can view reservation details and complete pre-invoice reconciliation and driver close-out from the field, in real time. Mobile computers also permit 2-way driver communication, mapping and turn by turn directions, flight status tracking and can double as a client greeting sign at airports, train stations and cruise terminals.”

The HWeb MobilePlus product is an application that can be launched and run on the popular iPad, or other tablet style computer. The application displays an interactive listing of all work assigned to the driver or vehicle. The information is displayed in real-time, once work is assigned to a driver – no paging action is required by the dispatch center. Drivers “touch” their way to more information about the reservation and indicate with the press of an on-screen button that the work has been acknowledged. Another button generates an automated voice call, email or text message to the client announcing the driver is on-site.  A driver touches the screen again to send voiceless status updates to dispatch, when on-site, when the client is on-board and then again once the client is delivered. Drivers can email a receipt to a passenger from the vehicle or send to a portable Bluetooth printer.  When finished with the assignment drivers can complete the closeout process immediately, and submit trip expenses remotely, eliminating the need for paper trip sheets and reconciliation forms.

Don Libby, a Hudson client and technology adopter, is Director of Business Development for New Hampshire-based Regal Limousine Service. After seeing HWeb MobilePlus in action on an iPad, Libby stated, “This is precisely the kind of innovative technology solution I embrace. It allows me to communicate more efficiently with my staff in the field and reduces my recurring communication expenses. I could also give this to a curbside coordinator who will be able to track and check in clients in real time. I wanted to move to paperless and voiceless dispatch and this will let me do it. ” Libby adds, “This will be big, I mean really big for our industry.  Hudson has hit a grand slam with this technology and continues to be our industries leading technology provider.”

“We saw the promise of the iPad as soon as it was released by Apple. We know that HWeb MobilePlus will allow our clients to reduce expenses, improve efficiency and the work environment as well as conserve natural resources.”  Ustik concludes,  “We are dedicated to improving the flow of information within our clients businesses and HWeb MobilePlus may be a turning point that will revolutionize how work is done in our industry.”
